The Maroon Bells are two peaks located in the Elk Mountains. They’re named Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, and they’re separated by about one-third of a mile. They’re in Colorado, 10 miles from Aspen, and both peaks are “fourteeners” (mountains that exceed 14,000 feet). Colorado has the majority of fourteeners in North America. This photo was taken from Maroon Creek Valley, one of the most famous scenes in Colorado. It was a wonderful location to hike through and have a picnic.
